Electron beam welding
Electron beam welding is an ideal solution for many challenges in the aviation and space industry, where quality and reliability of weld is essential.
Electron beam welding allows very close monitoring of the welding process and enables a high degree of reproducibility for each weld. Deep and narrow welds, with the minimum of distortion, are achievable using this process. Our electron beam welding process is carried out in a clean room environment and in a vacuum, which enables EMS to achieve virtually pore-free welds, and avoids the creation of undesirable welding residues.
EMS’s electron beam welding services are provided by our highly experienced team of welders and engineers, who are supported by the expertise of our dedicated materials laboratory.
EMS has more than 40 years’ experience in making precision tailored, cold formed tubes. We use high quality flow formed cold solidification to create high strength, precision pipes that are accurately measured to 0.01mm. Our precision tubes offer high strength and accuracy using electron beam welding in a vacuum environment to create very pure joints with the minimum of distortion.
EMS have multiple furnaces capable of reaching 1,200ºC with a high vacuum – one of which is NADCAP-accredited. Our material specialists work with customers every step of the way to ensure they get exactly what they want out of each material. Other companies offer heat treatment, but no-one else offers the same combination of industry accreditation, material knowledge and traceability that EMS can provide.
